Organisers reported that at least 26 protests, marches and solidarity events were planned in 20 German cities, denouncing what they describe as Israel’s “massacres” and “war of genocide” in the Gaza Strip and cities across the occupied West Bank, and criticising the stance of several European governments, including Germany’s, which they accuse of siding with “injustice” against the Palestinian people.
In Berlin, protests were scheduled from early afternoon, including a 13:00 gathering near the Rheinmetall arms factory on Scheringstraße, followed by a 15:00 rally at Mehringplatz. Demonstrators there were expected to call for an end to arms cooperation with Israel and greater political pressure to halt military operations in Gaza.
Organisers say the German events form part of a broader European mobilisation that has seen sustained protests “in all major cities” against Israeli military actions and what activists describe as “complicity” or “double standards” in the policies of some European states.
Demonstrators are expected to reiterate demands for an immediate end to military operations in Gaza, accountability for alleged war crimes, and increased political and economic pressure on Israel, including arms embargoes and support for international legal proceedings.
The protests also aim to highlight the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the situation in the West Bank, where rights groups have documented widespread killings, arrests, home demolitions and settlement expansion since October 2023.
German authorities have in recent months imposed varying degrees of restrictions on some pro‑Palestinian gatherings, citing security and public‑order concerns, while civil‑rights advocates warn against curbs on freedom of assembly and expression. Organisers said they intended Saturday’s events to remain peaceful and inclusive, with a focus on international law, human rights and solidarity with Palestinians.
