Hojatoleslam Syed Jawad Naqvi, head of Pakistan’s Tahreek Bedaari Ummat-e-Mustafa, has stated that Pakistan must fundamentally support Iran’s legitimate rights – particularly the right to peaceful nuclear energy and the right to self-defense – rights that are fully consistent with international law and the principles of national sovereignty.
Trump isolated and under pressure
Syed Naqvi noted that Donald Trump is currently isolated and under intense pressure both domestically and internationally, adding that NATO and European allies have distanced themselves from the US president due to his erratic behavior, while Christian religious circles have also challenged his conduct.
The cleric expressed concern over Trump’s unusual expressions of satisfaction with Pakistan, stating: “In such an atmosphere, Trump’s extraordinary pleasure with Pakistan is not a cause for joy but a source of worry – especially given the clear contradictions and instability in his policies and statements. Past experiences have also proven that he cannot be trusted.”
Pakistan at a major diplomatic test
The head of Tahreek Bedaari Ummat-e-Mustafa emphasized that Pakistan is currently undergoing a major diplomatic test, requiring a clear, independent, and principled stance. “Under no circumstances should Pakistan become a mere tool to ‘save face’ for Trump,” he asserted.
Syed Naqvi further stressed that Pakistan must support Iran’s legitimate rights – including peaceful nuclear energy and the right to self-defense – as these are guaranteed under international law and the principles of national sovereignty. “Throughout this process, the collective dignity and interests of the Islamic Ummah must remain at the center of attention,” he added.
Historic opportunity for Pakistan
Concluding his remarks, Syed Jawad Naqvi stated that Trump currently finds himself in a position of weakness and distress before the Islamic Resistance. “This is an exceptional and historic opportunity for Pakistan,” he said, “to defend not only its own national interests but the interests of the entire Islamic Ummah – through wisdom, insight, and adherence to principles.”
