Peshawar, Pakistan hosts grand commemoration of Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom

Thousands of followers of the resistance front and the Islamic Revolution, alongside prominent Shia and Sunni scholars and Iranian diplomats, gathered at the Martyr Arif Hussain al-Hussaini Seminary in Peshawar, Pakistan, for a magnificent ceremony to honor the memory of the martyred Grand Ayatollah Khamenei.

The event was a rare scene of unity, solidarity, and interfaith brotherhood among followers of different Islamic schools of thought in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, held in mourning for the martyred Leader of the Ummah.

Speakers at the gathering emphasized themes such as the unity of the Islamic Ummah, countering US and Israeli policies, continuing the path of resistance, supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran, and highlighting commonalities between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

Many speakers described the martyrdom of the “Leader of the Ummah,” Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as a historic turning point for greater cohesion among Islamic currents. They stressed that the enemies of Islam sought to sow discord within the Ummah, but this martyrdom has, on the contrary, resulted in greater Muslim unity.

Pakistani senator: ‘Martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei has united the Ummah’

Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, head of Pakistan’s Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), stated that “the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has united the Ummah,” adding that today Shia and Sunni Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder against the projects of the arrogant powers.

He stressed that the US and Israel are trying to occupy the Islamic Ummah with internal disputes, but the resistance axis and the current of Islamic unity will not allow these goals to be realized.

The MWM leader also emphasized the need for practical unity among Islamic schools of thought and confrontation of the “divide and rule” policy.

Ashura culture as model of resistance against enemy aggression

Hojatoleslam Mohammad Ameen Shaheedi, head of Pakistan’s Ummat-e-Wahida, described the gathering as a symbol of Islamic awakening and evidence of the living, unifying thought within Pakistan.

He added that the path of resistance does not stop with the martyrdom of leaders, and that the Islamic Ummah must draw inspiration from the culture of Ashura and resistance to stand against oppression and aggression.

The senior cleric stressed the necessity of cooperation between Shia and Sunni scholars and the preservation of a brotherly atmosphere in Pakistan.

Iran’s consulate: Resistance is ingrained in Iranian blood

Hojatoleslam Seyyed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, head of the Imam Khomeini Foundation, noted the historic role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the Islamic Ummah, stating that today unity is a strategic necessity for the Muslim world.

He added that the enemies of Islam are trying to use media tools to exacerbate sectarian differences, but gatherings like this conference prove that the Islamic Ummah remains united around the axis of resistance and defense of sanctities.

Ali Banafshehkhah, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Peshawar, thanked the massive turnout of people and scholars, describing the gathering as a reflection of the depth of spiritual and intellectual ties between the Iranian and Pakistani nations.

He stressed that the enemies had been unaware that the thought and beliefs of resistance—rooted in the noble doctrine of Islam—have become institutionalized and are flowing in the blood and flesh of the Iranian people and fighters. “The pure blood of our martyred Leader has brought awareness and enlightenment to the Islamic Ummah.”

The Iranian consul said the enemy must know that the Muslim nation of Iran has not yielded to the enemy’s crimes and will stand firm until the end. He added that today Iran is more determined than ever to cut the hands of foreigners, including criminal America, from the region and the Persian Gulf.

Banafshehkhah emphasized that today all have reached the conviction that Islamic countries do not need American military bases or the presence of foreign Western forces and mercenaries to impose borrowed security on their lands.

Islamic unity: a necessary strategy in current circumstances

A number of Sunni speakers also attended the gathering, stressing the need to preserve unity among Muslims and confront extremism and sectarian plots.

The Sunni speakers identified the issue of Palestine, the defense of Islamic sanctities, and confronting US and Israeli domination as common causes of the Islamic Ummah and called for greater convergence among Islamic currents.

The atmosphere of the gathering was marked by unity-inspiring slogans, support for the Islamic resistance, condemnation of US and Israeli policies, and praise for the martyrs.

Participants, holding up portraits of resistance leaders and Islamic flags, pledged to continue the path of the martyrs and preserve Islamic unity.
