Sheikh Isa Qassim: Insulting Ayatollah Khamenei Is an Affront to the Entire Islamic Nation

Bahrain’s leading Shia cleric, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmad Qassim, has strongly condemned recent threats and insults directed at Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei by U.S. President Donald Trump, calling the verbal attack a grave offense to the entire Islamic world and its sanctities.

In a statement issued in response to Trump’s remarks, Sheikh Qassim described Ayatollah Khamenei — the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran — as “a towering Quranic figure and a rare leader in this era.” He emphasized that the Iranian leader’s role in guiding and empowering the Islamic Ummah stems from deep sincerity, unwavering commitment to Islamic values, and a profound connection to the Holy Quran.

“Any insult or threat directed at Ayatollah Khamenei is, in reality, an insult to the entire Islamic nation and to the sanctity of religious leadership,” Sheikh Qassim stated.

He warned that such statements reflect not only political recklessness but also a fundamental misunderstanding of the values, symbolism, and religious stature that Ayatollah Khamenei represents across the Muslim world.

“Trump’s insult is not only ignorant and foolish but also stems from a complete lack of foresight and understanding of the consequences. This affront targets all that is sacred to Muslims, placing a heavy burden on the shoulders of the honorable Islamic Ummah,” he added.

The Bahraini cleric urged the Islamic world to stand united in the face of such provocations and to defend its religious symbols and dignitaries with clarity and courage.
