The signatories pledged to defend the dignity of the Supreme Leader and the ideals of the Islamic Republic in the face of growing foreign threats and acts of desecration.
The statement, issued during the days of Muharram mourning, highlighted the achievements of the Islamic Republic over the past four decades, praising its ability to harmonize Islamic values with modern scientific, technological, and economic development despite external pressures and internal shortcomings.
Referring to recent regional developments, the professors praised the Islamic Republic’s bold military stance against the Zionist regime, describing it as a manifestation of divine support and a historic milestone in the global struggle of Islam against oppression.
“The Islamic Republic has become the only state that has struck both the Zionist and American pillars of arrogance with such intensity,” the statement read. “This year’s Hajj was completed not only by casting stones at symbolic devils, but by standing up to the real ones—both regional and global.”
The scholars warned that recent threats against Ayatollah Khamenei by hostile powers are seen not only as political aggression but as an attack on the sacred structure of Islamic leadership. They vowed to respond decisively, stating:
“Any attempt to harm or insult the sanctity of the Supreme Leader will be answered with the sacrifice of our lives and the launch of a great jihad.”
The professors further acknowledged the influential statements recently made by senior Maraji’ (sources of emulation) in defense of the Supreme Leader. They expressed gratitude for this leadership and emphasized the duty of scholars and students to protect the foundations of the Islamic system.
The statement concluded with a heartfelt prayer for Ayatollah Khamenei’s health, longevity, and continued leadership, as well as for the enduring strength and elevation of the Islamic Republic under the protection of Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance).
