The statement refers specifically to threats against Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and characterizes such actions as direct attacks on the sanctity of Islam and the religious authority (marja’iyya) of the Islamic world.
“The great religious authorities have issued a sensitive, historic, and courageous fatwa,” the Assembly declared, calling it a decisive response to “open acts of enmity and blasphemous aggression against the pinnacle of Islamic leadership.”
A Call for Global Muslim Solidarity and Resistance
The jurists’ collective statement warns that Islam is once again facing an existential threat from what it calls the “coalition of global disbelief”, accusing Western powers, particularly the United States and Israel, of fomenting sedition and aggression against Islam and its leadership.
“While Gaza is still bleeding under years of relentless aggression, the enemies of Islam have now sharpened their claws against the Islamic authority at the heart of the Muslim world,” the scholars said. “This is not merely a political confrontation but a sacrilegious assault on the very soul of Islam.”
The Assembly urged Muslim nations and free peoples worldwide to unite in “jihad and resistance” against the Zionist regime and its allies, particularly the United States, whom the statement described as “racist, child-killing, and criminal.”
Demands for International Prosecution
The scholars also called for legal action against international figures they deem responsible for crimes against Iran and the broader Islamic world. They demanded that:
- Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency,
- Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, and
- Donald Trump, U.S. President,
be prosecuted in international courts as war criminals and enemies of humanity.
Vow of Defense and Resistance
Pledging loyalty to the Islamic system and the legacy of the martyrs, the seminary scholars declared:
“As soldiers of the Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), we will defend the Islamic system, the sanctity of religious authority, and the blood of martyrs until our last breath. Alongside the proud and victorious nation of Iran, we will confront the arrogance of the global oppressors.”
The statement concluded with a Qur’anic invocation and a renewed call for divine assistance in the global struggle:
“Victory is from Allah, and a near victory awaits.”
