Nigeria To Host International Qur’anic Recitation Competition

Nigeria is set to host representatives from approximately 20 countries for the 2025 International Quran Recitation Competition, scheduled to take place in August.

The event, which will feature participants from about 20 countries, is spearheaded by a former member representing Bassa/Jos North federal constituency of Plateau State, Muhammad Adam Alkali.

The event will kick off in Jos, Plateau State capital, with the finale slated to hold in Abuja.

At a preparatory meeting, Alkali expressed his gratitude to the Centre for Islamic Studies, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto (UDUS) for what he described as robust support.

He articulated the event’s mission to include promoting Islamic values and fostering unity, passionately affirming that the Holy Qur’an serves as the ultimate guide for Muslims striving for a meaningful life.

Alkali acknowledged the previous attempts by distinguished Nigerians to launch an International Qur’anic Recitation Competition, which faced challenges but paved the way for this long-awaited event.

Countries expected to participate include Cameroon, Ghana, Chad, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritania, Niger, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, England, the UAE, and the USA. Each country will proudly send male and female participants along with their officials, showcasing the richness of the global Islamic community.
