The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, said that the government strongly encourages Imams to apply for these programmes, confirming that those selected will receive full course fee coverage as well as a monthly allowance.
MNU has opened applications for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Islamic Studies and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Islamic Sharia programmes with the deadline for applications set to expire on 30 September.
Minister Dr Shaheem highlighted that providing PhD-level education opportunities for Imams is part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to strengthen the academic and professional standing of religious leaders in the Maldives. He also expressed gratitude to MNU for opening these advanced programmes in Islamic education.
