Speaking at the Second International Religious Leaders’ Summit in Kuala Lumpur, jointly hosted by the Malaysian government and the Islamic World League, Moballeghi underlined the need for solidarity among religious leaders to confront crises. He stressed that resolving global conflicts is possible only through sustainable peace, confidence-building, and the unifying role of religions.
The Iranian cleric, who is also a member of the Assembly of Experts, identified four essential principles for ending conflicts: fair reform and dispute resolution, promoting tolerance and peace, confronting the causes of oppression, and dismantling existing oppression.
Citing the plight of Gaza, Moballeghi said eliminating the ongoing oppression against its people is a vivid example of the fourth principle, noting that religions bear a serious responsibility in this regard.
The summit’s participants emphasized the fundamental role of religions in addressing the roots of conflict, promoting coexistence, and preventing violence.
Moballeghi also chaired the second scientific session of the conference, which discussed the role of religious leaders in eradicating manifestations of violence and conflict.
