Indian Seminaries Return to Their Glorious Past

During a meeting, the necessity of improving the quality of seminaries in India was emphasized. In this meeting, the parties, while discussing strategies for strengthening religious education, emphasized improving scientific standards and expanding seminary and scientific cooperation.

Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Kalb Jawad Naqvi, Secretary General of the Indian Ulema Council, emphasized the necessity of improving the quality and scientific level of seminaries in India in a meeting with Hujjat al-Islam Kamal Hosseini, representative of Al-Mustafa International University in India. The meeting was held with the aim of exchanging views on the scientific development of religious schools and responding to new educational needs.

In this meeting, the representative of Al-Mustafa University, referring to the brilliant and deep-rooted history of Indian seminaries, considered the improvement of educational standards one of the necessities and stated,” Elevating the scientific status of these centers requires the qualitative improvement of educational programs and close cooperation between scholars and administrators of seminary schools.”

Welcoming the scientific capacities available in India, he emphasized the importance of synergy between scientific institutions to achieve these goals.

Hujjat al-Islam Kalb Jawad Naqvi, while appreciating the efforts of Al-Mustafa University in the field of religious education, also announced the full readiness of Indian scholars and religious institutions to participate in this project and added, “Indian seminaries will support any action that leads to scientific excellence and strengthens their epistemological role in society.”

This meeting took place in a situation where seminaries around the world are facing emerging scientific and cultural challenges and the need to review their educational structure and content is felt more than ever.
