A seminar entitled "The Greatness of Hajj" was held in the city of Amroha, India, with scholars and pilgrims in attendance during which Hajj was emphasized as a symbol of Islamic unity and awareness of the nation.

On the occasion of the days of Hajj, a seminar entitled “The Greatness of Hajj” was held in the city of Amroha, India. This ceremony was held with full participation of pilgrims, scholars and thinkers.

Hajj; A comprehensive worship and an opportunity to reform the individual and the nation

In this ceremony, Hujjat al-Islam Shahwar Hussain Naqvi, in his speech, described Hajj as a spiritual, moral, educational and social worship and stated,” Hajj is an opportunity to purify the soul and embark on a new journey in life. This worship cleanses a person of sins and takes him to the House of God; where all the needs of the servant are provided by the host. It is stated in the narrations that God fulfills the needs of the pilgrims, forgives their sins and rewards the expenses of the Hajj trip many times over.”

He further noted that Hajj is not only about visiting the House of God, but also an opportunity to ponder upon the problems of the Islamic Ummah. God brings Muslims together in one place so that they can take steps towards solving their problems by being aware of one another.

Hajj, a chance for intercultural dialogue

Following the ceremony, Hujjat al-Islam Ahsan Akhtar Soroush also referred to the cultural role of Hajj ritual, saying, “During the Hajj ceremony, Muslims from different cultures and civilizations come together, which strengthens mutual understanding, empathy and cohesion of the Islamic Ummah.”
