The Head of Islamic Culture and Communications Organization Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour made some remarks at the opening ceremony of the first international conference on “Human Rights in the Eastern Approach” held in cooperation with Baqir-al-Ulum University affiliated with the Islamic Propaganda Office of Qom Seminary, in the Husayniyya Al-Zahra (PBUH) of the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization; He paid tribute to the victims of Shahid Rajaee Port tragedy, saying,” Today, the international community is facing a gross violation of human rights.”
He continued,” Today, the issue of human rights has become one of the most challenging topics in social sciences, which is interpreted as biological life, but the regulations that could have promoted and brought a better world to humanity have turned into their own opposite. Today, the world is witnessing the ineffectiveness and lack of capability of human rights systems in preventing violence, injustice and hatred due to self-interested and individualistic attitudes.”
Hujjat al-Islam Imanipour stated,” The instrumental use and double standards of human rights institutions have added to the ineffectiveness of human rights systems. In a world where genocide is permitted and innocent children in Gaza are losing their lives due to malnutrition while human rights institutions are silent, talking about human rights is a bitter irony.”
He further noted that human rights have long had universal laws in all schools of thought and religion, and their foundations have emphasized human values, regardless of geographical and cultural limitations. However, today this category has been interpreted biasedly and the benefits of human rights have been limited solely to Western countries.”
