It called on the British government to adopt a comprehensive national strategy to combat anti-Muslim hatred, stressing that silence in the face of such discrimination undermines the values of justice and equality that Britain prides itself on, and betrays the democratic principles upon which the state is built.
Despite the alarming figures, the report noted that a public opinion poll showed that the majority of British people do not harbor hostile feelings toward Muslims, raising serious questions about the parties behind the hate narrative and their role in fueling division within society.
The report offered a set of practical recommendations, including launching awareness campaigns to counter misinformation, supporting youth initiatives, involving religious institutions, and investing in trust-building programs between segments of society.
In a clear message to the government, EQUI affirmed that Muslims in Britain are not a burden but an active part of the nation’s social structure, and that the country’s future cannot be built on the exclusion of specific cultures, but rather through embracing diversity and working to strengthen it.
