Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoubi, one of Iraq’s leading Shia scholars, has issued a strong condemnation of the recent attacks carried out by the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing the aggression as rooted in oppression and arrogance, and destined for inevitable destruction.
In a statement released in response to the targeting of Iranian military and civilian infrastructure, including nuclear and service facilities, Ayatollah Yaqoubi emphasized that such acts are not surprising given the very foundation of the Zionist regime.
“This regime was established by the global arrogant powers in the heart of the Islamic world to impose hegemony, enslave nations, and plunder their wealth,” he said. “Its philosophy is built upon oppression, aggression, and the humiliation of others.”
Citing verses from the Holy Qur’an, Ayatollah Yaqoubi reaffirmed that the enemies of Islam have never honored covenants or bonds, and that their continuous war against Muslims aims to force submission to imperialist agendas.
“They will not cease fighting you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able” (Al-Baqarah: 217), he quoted, underscoring the religious and ideological dimensions of the ongoing confrontation.
While expressing sorrow over the loss of Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists, Ayatollah Yaqoubi stressed that the Zionist enemy is experiencing greater fear and defeat.
“If you suffer, they suffer as well; but you hope from Allah what they do not hope for,” he said, quoting from Surah An-Nisa, highlighting the moral and spiritual resilience of the Islamic Ummah in contrast to its adversaries.
He went on to contrast martyrdom with humiliation, noting that while all souls must face death, there is a vast difference between meeting Allah with honor and falling into disgrace both in this world and the hereafter.
Concluding his statement, Ayatollah Yaqoubi prayed for righteous and capable leadership for the Muslim Ummah and the triumph of Islam over all other systems of falsehood.
“Our solace lies in seeing the banner of Islam raised across the earth. We ask God to hasten the reappearance of the Promised Savior and the establishment of His just government.”
