Ayatollah Arafi Urges Islamic Scholars and Institutions to Act Swiftly to End Gaza Siege

In a series of heartfelt letters addressed to prominent Islamic scholars across the Muslim world, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, Director of Iran’s Seminary , called for immediate and unified action by the Islamic Ummah and international institutions to break the siege on Gaza and deliver essential humanitarian aid to its suffering population.

Writing “with a heart burdened by the war crimes of the Zionist regime” and a spirit of Islamic brotherhood, Ayatollah Arafi implored leading religious figures to raise their voices against injustice and oppression and to demand urgent intervention to relieve the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

“Amidst fire and hunger, the eyes of hope of our brothers and sisters in Gaza are fixed on the Islamic Ummah,” he wrote. “The hunger of even one Muslim child should not only bring tears to our eyes—it leaves us with no excuse before God.”

Ayatollah Arafi, who is also a member of the Supreme Council of the Seminaries, emphasized that the siege of Gaza is not merely a political crisis but a profound divine test for the sincerity of the Islamic world’s claims of unity and moral responsibility.

He urged scholars to address the “tyranny of oppression” and amplify the cries of the hungry and oppressed, calling on Islamic governments to abandon their silence and fulfill their religious and humanitarian obligations.

“The time has come for the Islamic Ummah and the global community to take decisive and meaningful action,” he wrote.

Ayatollah Arafi also announced the readiness of Iran’s seminary system to host an international scholarly or religious summit, aimed at fostering scientific, ethical, and spiritual synergy among Muslim nations. He affirmed the solidarity of the religious authorities, seminaries, the Iranian nation, and the Axis of Resistance with the oppressed people and the courageous defenders (mujahideen) of Gaza.

“The seminaries, under the guidance of the supreme religious authorities, are raising their voices loudly in support of the hungry and the fighters,” he declared.

The call by Ayatollah Arafi adds to growing religious and political pressure within the Islamic world for a united response to the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, amid continuing violence and blockade.
