Islamabad – In a message marking the beginning of the holy month of Muharram, Senator Raja Nasser Abbas Jafari, Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim Unity Assembly, emphasized the enduring relevance of the message of Karbala, calling for unity, resilience, and a collective stand against oppression in the Islamic world.
Ashura: A Timeless Standard Between Truth and Tyranny
Reflecting on the crescent sighting of Muharram, Senator Raja Nasser Abbas stated, “The arrival of this sacred month once again brings to light the eternal message of Karbala—the unwavering stand of Imam Hussein (PBUH) against tyranny, corruption, and injustice in defense of truth, justice, and human dignity.”
He underscored that Karbala is not a mere historical episode but a timeless moral compass. “Ashura offers a clear standard for distinguishing between right and wrong in every era,” he said. “At a time when the Islamic Ummah is engulfed in sedition, aggression, and sectarian discord, Muharram urges us to transcend minor differences and unite in patience, perseverance, and collective resistance.”
Unity: The Essence of the Husseini Message
Senator Jafari stressed that silence in the face of oppression contradicts the spirit of true faith. “The dignity and survival of the Ummah depend on unity, mutual respect, and empathy,” he said. “The enemies of Islam are actively working to divide us through ethnic and religious discord, but the message of Imam Hussein (PBUH) reminds us that strength lies in solidarity.”
A Pledge for Dignified Coexistence and Defense of the Oppressed
The Secretary General called on all Muslims to uphold respect for all religious sects and sacred spaces. “In this month of Muharram, let us renew our commitment to avoid disrespect toward other religions, schools of thought, and places of worship,” he urged. “We must protect the sanctity of mosques, Hussainiyahs, and all houses of God.”
Concluding his message, Senator Raja Nasser Abbas Jafari called for a united stand in defense of the oppressed across the globe. “With one voice, let us support the oppressed of Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and all other places where injustice prevails.”
