Pakistan Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Palestine, Rejects Any Shift in Historical Stance

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated that Islamabad’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause remains unchanged and fully aligned with the vision of the country’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Addressing the National Assembly, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said Pakistan continues to stand firmly with the oppressed Palestinian nation amid the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza. He stressed that “Pakistan’s position on Palestine is the same as it has always been — rooted in justice, international law, and the right of self-determination.”

Dar also confirmed that the Pakistani government is working through third countries to secure the release of its citizens, including former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, who was detained by Israeli forces. “Since Pakistan has no diplomatic relations with Israel, we are pursuing all available channels to ensure the safe return of our nationals,” he said.

Commenting on Washington’s so-called 20-point peace plan for Gaza, Dar explained that Pakistan and other Islamic nations had submitted their own revised version, but “unacceptable alterations” were later made to the final draft. He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s initial response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tweet came before Islamabad was informed of those changes.

The top diplomat criticized the failure of the United Nations, the European Union, and some Arab countries to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that Pakistan’s engagements with Washington were aimed solely at stopping the bloodshed and upholding the rights of Palestinians.

Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to oppose any unilateral or imposed solution on the Palestinian people, reiterating that Islamabad’s support for Palestine remains “unchanged, unwavering, and deeply rooted in moral and historical principles.”
