Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman praised Iran’s posture in the face of recent hostilities and asserted that Pakistan must fulfill its obligations regarding bilateral trade and infrastructure projects.
Call for Free Trade and Completion of Gas Pipeline
The Pakistani political leader emphasized that following the cessation of hostilities, economic ties between the two neighboring Muslim nations must be normalized and strengthened.
“We salute Iran, which is standing firm against the attacks of America and Israel. Pakistan must also play its role in this regard,” Rehman stated. “After the war ends, free trade with Iran must be established, and the gas pipeline project must be completed.”
The remarks refer to the much-delayed Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, a key energy project that has faced repeated obstacles due to external pressures and sanctions.
Critique of US Leadership and Global Silence
In a sharp critique of Washington’s political landscape, the Jamaat-e-Islami chief questioned the stability of the current US administration, noting that a significant portion of the American public views the president as unfit for office. He called on the United Nations to take note of the discourse emanating from the White House.
“The American president now uses foul language, and the world is watching. Many Americans themselves do not deem him worthy of this position,” Rehman said. “The United Nations must pay attention to this situation.”
Rehman further condemned what he described as international inaction regarding the plight of the Palestinians, warning that the Israeli regime may escalate its actions while the global community remains silent. He reiterated that Pakistan’s principled stance must align with the resistance against such aggression.
