This came after the Zionist enemy’s warplanes launched intensive raids, the largest since the latest escalation of its aggression against the country.
In a statement published by the Lebanese website Al-Manar, Berri pointed to “the continued aggression of the Israeli killing and destruction machine in its war of extermination against Lebanon, the most heinous aspect of which was the brutal air aggression that targeted the capital, Beirut, its southern suburbs, large areas of the Bekaa Valley and Mount Lebanon, Sidon, and several villages in southern Lebanon, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of civilians, including dozens of children, women, and elderly people, inside densely populated neighborhoods and buildings, in a full-fledged war crime”.
He said: “Today’s crime, coinciding with the ceasefire agreement announced in the region—an agreement that Israel and its political and security apparatus have failed to uphold—is a serious test for the international community and a blatant challenge to all international laws, norms, and conventions, which Israel violates daily through its unprecedented campaign of killing people in modern history”.
The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament affirmed that these crimes simultaneously constitute “a test for all Lebanese—political, religious, and civil leaders—to unite in the face of this bloodshed”.
