Religious leaders and scholars from various faiths underscored the importance of preserving holy sites and the dignified reconstruction of Al-Baqi, describing it as a humanitarian and cultural issue with global dimensions.
The landmark conference was organized in collaboration with the Chicago-based Al-Baqi Organization and the Al-Khoei Foundation in London, hosted by Parliament member Lord Russell Rowe. The gathering brought together prominent religious leaders, intellectuals, and representatives from different faiths, highlighting a shared commitment to preserving sacred heritage and fostering interfaith unity.
In his opening address, Lord Rowe welcomed the distinguished guests and stressed that preserving historical and religious heritage is a collective responsibility—one that cannot be achieved without unity and cooperation among diverse communities.
Representing the Al-Baqi Organization, Indian scholar Hojatoleslam Mahboob Mahdi Abedi Najafi expressed gratitude to the host and attendees, stating that the demand for rebuilding Al-Baqi is not limited to Muslims alone, but is a universal issue tied to human dignity, history, and shared human values.
Prominent Pakistani-born London scholar Hojatoleslam Ali Raza Rizvi praised the efforts of the Al-Baqi Organization, saying: “Leaders of all religions and denominations must raise a united voice for truth and justice across the world in the same manner.”
Other speakers included the Archbishop of Angeles, Professor Sajjad Rizvi (University of Exeter), Reverend Andrew Thompson, Sarah Lynn Kauty, and Aliyah Azam, representing the Al-Khoei Foundation in London.
Speakers emphasized the importance of preserving historical and religious sites worldwide and specifically called for the proper and dignified reconstruction of Jannat al-Baqi. The issue was framed within the context of cultural heritage, human rights, and global cooperation.
The historic gathering concluded with a renewed commitment to interfaith collaboration, constructive dialogue, and the creation of a global platform for the protection of holy sites.
