Bahrain honors winners of 29th Grand Quran Prize

The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments of Bahrain, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, held a ceremony to honor the winners of the 29th Bahrain Grand Quran Prize at the Issa Cultural Center.

Sheikha Maram bint Issa Al Khalifa, Director General of the Office of Her Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim, attended the ceremony and presented certificates and prizes to 87 female winners. Prizes were also awarded to the oldest and youngest participants, the Flute of David Award, and the Best Quran Center Award. Eight sponsoring organizations and 15 female members of the jury were also honored.

This year’s competition included 4,242 participants, 1,598 men and 2,644 women, in several categories: Memorization of the Holy Quran for students of Quranic centers, the Bayan Award for school students, the Ajran Award for people with special needs, the Ghufran Award for prisoners of the Correction and Rehabilitation Center, the Ridwan Award for the general public, the Salman Farsi Award for recitation by non-Arabic speakers, and good recitation and performance. Individual awards included the Oldest and Youngest Participant Award, the David Flute Award, and the Best Quran Center Award.

The Bahrain Grand Quran Award, launched in 1996 during the reign of the late Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, is one of the leading religious competitions in the Kingdom. It aims to promote the memorization and correct recitation of the Quran and increase educational and spiritual engagement with Islamic teachings. The competition is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of Education.
