According to ”The Official Website of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria”, Sayed Ibraheem Zakzaky, met the brothers acquitted yesterday in Abuja on May 14, 2025, six years after. They were arrested in July 2019 in Abuja during the Free Sheikh Zakzaky protest. The released brothers met with the Leader in his residence immediately following their freedom.
24 people of 60 were released and acquitted by the Abuja court, while addressing them, the leader of the Islamic movement said, “our expectation was all those in prison would be released and that those accused ought to have been acquitted and released 3 years ago”.
“From the beginning, when the Judge passed ‘no case submission’ judgement on the matter, we expected that all these people would be freed altogether, for failure to establish evidence against them, but to our surprise, we heard that there are still other accusations”.
On the issue of gatherings, he said no law prohibits people from holding such gatherings or requiring a police permit. This judgement, which freed the brothers, shows that they are not guilty of any offence. He added.
